How to Protect Yourself Without Dangerous Drugs and Vaccinations

For now, my point is that there are always going to be threats of flu pandemics, real or created, and there will always be potentially toxic vaccines that are peddled as the solution. But you can break free of that whole drug-solution trap by following some natural health principles.

I have not caught a flu in over two decades, and you can avoid it too, without getting vaccinated, by following these simple guidelines, which will keep your immune system in optimal working order so that you're far less likely to acquire the infection to begin with.

* Optimize your vitamin D levels. As I've previously reported, optimizing your vitamin D levels is one of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of ALL kinds, and vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu -- not the flu virus itself.

This is probably the single most important and least expensive action you can take. I would STRONGLY urge you to have your vitamin D level monitored to confirm your levels are therapeutic at 50-70 ng.ml and done by a reliable vitamin D lab like Lab Corp.

For those of you in the US we hope to launch a vitamin D testing service through Lab Corp that allows you to have your vitamin D levels checked at your local blood drawing facility, and relatively inexpensively. We hope to offer this service by June 2009.

If you are coming down with flu like symptoms and have not been on vitamin D you can take doses of 50,000 units a day for three days to treat the acute infection. Some researchers like Dr. Cannell, believe the dose could even be as high as 1000 units per pound of body weight for three days.

Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods. Sugar decreases the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a strong immune system is key to fighting off viruses and other illness. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect, like ketchup and fruit juice.

Get Enough Rest. Just like it becomes harder for you to get your daily tasks done if you're tired, if your body is overly fatigued it will be harder for it to fight the flu. Be sure to check out my article Guide to a Good Night's Sleep for some great tips to help you get quality rest.

Have Effective Tools to Address Stress . We all face some stress every day, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flu and other illness.

If you feel that stress is taking a toll on your health, consider using an energy psychology tool such as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which is remarkably effective in relieving stress associated with all kinds of events, from work to family to trauma. Exercise. When you exercise, you increase your circulation and your blood flow throughout your body. The components of your immune system are also better circulated, which means your immune system has a better chance of finding an illness before it spreads. You can review my exercise guidelines for some great tips on how to get started.

Take a good source of animal based omega-3 fats like Krill Oil. Increase your intake of healthy and essential fats like the omega-3 found in krill oil, which is crucial for maintaining health. It is also vitally important to avoid damaged omega-6 oils that are trans fats and in processed foods as it will seriously damage your immune response.

Wash Your Hands. Washing your hands will decrease your likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. Be sure you don't use antibacterial soap for this -- antibacterial soaps are completely unnecessary, and they cause far more harm than good. Instead, identify a simple chemical-free soap that you can switch your family to.

Eat Garlic Regularly. Garlic works like a broad-spectrum antibiotic against bacteria, virus, and protozoa in the body. And unlike with antibiotics, no resistance can be built up so it is an absolutely safe product to use. However, if you are allergic or don't enjoy garlic it would be best to avoid as it will likely cause more harm than good.
* Avoid Hospitals and Vaccines In this particular case, I'd also recommend you stay away from hospitals unless you're having an emergency, as hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of all kinds, and could be one of the likeliest places you could be exposed to this new bug. Vaccines will not be available for six months at the minimum but when available they will be ineffective and can lead to crippling paralysis like Guillain-Barré Syndrome just as it did in the 70s.

Possible Remedy for Swine Flu

Found this on my favorite site, earthclinic.com! There is quite a worry about this swine flu and so I put this out there for others to read and to try. The hydrogen peroxide should be food grade (35%) which can be bought at health food stores. Be sure to read the entire article. Eat Vegan On Earth Day, April 22!

This is a very informative article. Please take the time to read it. Not only will it "reduce disease risks, drastically lessen animal suffering, and substantially "green" the planet", it is a very healthy way to eat. I previously posted about eating natural foods. This ties in as eating vegan consists mostly of eating natural foods!!

Turning cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys into "beef," "pork," and "poultry" is no simple matter. As E/The Environmental Magazine points out, "just about every aspect of meat production—from grazing-related loss of cropland, to the inefficiencies of feeding vast quantities of water and grain to cattle, to pollution from 'factory farms'—is an environmental disaster with wide and sometimes catastrophic consequences."

Consider this:

• Farmed animals generate more greenhouse gasses than SUVs, tractor trailers, trains, and jumbo jets put together. According to U.N. scientists, the livestock sector is one of the largest sources of carbon dioxide and the single largest source of both methane and nitrous oxide emissions. Nitrous oxide is about 300 times more potent as a global warming gas than carbon dioxide. The meat, egg, and dairy industries account for a staggering 65 percent of worldwide nitrous oxide emissions.

• Nearly half of the water used in the U.S. is squandered on animal agriculture. More than 4,000 gallons of water per day are required to produce a meat-based diet; only 300 gallons of water a day are needed to produce a totally vegetarian diet.

Cure Urinary Track Infection and Bladder Infection with Apple Cider Vinegar

Today, this girl I know, Sara, told me she has had many problems with UTI. She was thinking of going to the doctor. I told her to try 2 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) in a glass of water 3 times a day. An hour after her first glass, she came outside and said she was feeling a lot better. She was very appreciative and I was very glad for her.

Birds in my Yard

This is a little bit off-topic but I've found a site that sells some really neat bird products to welcome our fine feathered friends to your backyard. I love birds and when I lived in Australia we used to collect the brilliantly colored little feathers of the Rosella parrots that would fly around our backyard. Even if you don't like birds I would suggest buying a few window decals to save a few of the little creatures lives.

Hydrogen Peroxide for Ear Aches and Wax Build Up

We have been swimming a lot lately and last night I felt the beginnings of an ear ache! I put 1/2 capful of hydrogen peroxide in my ear and let it fizzle and sing!! I left it for over 5 minutes until the noise died down. This morning, my ear feels fantastic and a lot of wax came out. Thank heaven for H2O2!!

MSG Toxicity

I have read so much about MSG! It is very scary! I have given up most processed foods! I still love my peanut butter though!! I have always eaten a lot of fruit and vegetables, especially at breakfast and lunch, but as of 1 month ago, I eat vegies for dinner too. I love tomato sauce, so I gently stir-fry my vegetables in olive oil, add the juice of 2 limes (yummmm) and then add tomato sauce. I do not cook my vegetables very long, as it destroys the vitamins etc., so they are nice and crunchy. I usually add peanuts at the end. I eat this 6 out of 7 nights and love it. I feel so fortunate that I love it and can eat this way. The antidote for MSG toxicity is at the end of this article. If you can, stay away from processed foods. Good luck!!

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "Monosodium glutamate is a free form of glutamate which is relatively toxic to the body. I did some research awhile ago to find an antidote at the time. But some of the information I uncovered is not so good. Apparently the monosodium glutamate causes extreme food craving. In my previous postings at earthclinic I mentioned that if a scientist want to make a rat morbidly fat, they simply injected monosodium glutamate in the first few days of birth. What the monosodium glutamate does is that it destroys the part of your hypothalamus, a center which controls your appetite. When free glutamate destroys that you are hungry all the time and hence a sudden craving for food. Food suddenly becomes addictive, and hence, a boon for fast food, snack food, frozen foods and all the prepared food industries. Because of such a large effect on sales, companies tend to hide this ingredients many ways such as using other words such as modified soy protein, or hydrolyzed vegetable protein, etc. They will do it otherwise they simply can't get the required market share. Some companies are even don't need to have it since the ingredients they received were "premixed" from another place that they claimed to be "proprietary" and in this case they cannot legally divulge that they have MSG.

The problem about MSG I worry about is really not the food that they add into it. You can easily avoid them by avoiding "prepared foods". The biggest problems I worry about is that many vaccines that you inject even in the babies first few months of life do in fact have monosodium glutamate. You can probably guess the future of this baby that unfortunately received monosodium glutamate added to the vaccines. The child will no doubt be morbidly fat and diabetic. It is a boon to pharmaceuticals for those that produces anti-diabetic drugs and cholesterol reducing medicines. Some even went so far as to stop people from promoting soy under the label of being a health threat when the truth is soy and lecithin works better than many cholesterol lowering drugs on the market.

The rising obesity and hence diabetes might be traced to the fact that nearly ALL PREPARED foods have monosodium glutamate. This includes fast foods and ready made foods. It is no coincidence that only in the last decade in Thailand many people are experiencing obesity, which coincided exactly with the sales of U.S. fast food presence. Fried chicken fast food I found had the highest MSG amongst all fast food I have seen and the content of MSG is correlated quite closely with increase in sales. Only 2 decades ago, the fast food could not get penetrated into the market, until they start adding more MSG. The fact that MSG destroys the hypothalamus which controls your appetite, homeostasis, mood, body temperature, blood pressure, should clearly send a loud warning without the need to wait until we get morbidly obese and wondered what happened.

The possible antidote for MSG toxicity is simple: take plenty of protein, especially L-glutamine, which would displace the free glutamate from the body. The other is taking niacinamide vitamin B3 and vitamin B complex. The B3 may reduce some craving and neutralized those impulse generating from the MSG.

How To Increase Bone Density

This is another story from John Wiley and Sons, "Feed Your Genes Right". It is about a lady named Sandy, 55, who was diagnosed with osteoporosis. She had two falls and fractured bones and later on fractured her wrist. 1000mg of calcium and 400 IU of Vitamin D did help.

"Her physician recommended three steps.He increased Sandy’s
vitamin D intake to 2,000 IU daily. He suggested that she spend
fifteen to thirty minutes a day walking in the sun, which would
help her body make its own vitamin D. He also recommended
that Sandy begin some moderate weight training, because resistance
exercise increases bone density.
Two years later bone scans have shown an increase in
Sandy’s bone density. In addition, despite her heightened level of
activity, she has not experienced any additional fractures."

I emailed this to my 61 year old sister who has osteoporosis and she has sinced upped her Vitamin D, started walking more and is weight training. She will tell me the results of her next bone test and I will let you know. Hopefully it won't take 2 years to hear back from me. Lol.
